Fort Mill Cake Smash Photography: A Guide for Parents
Cake smash photography is a fun and festive way to celebrate your child’s first birthday. In this blog post, we will provide you with everything you need to know about cake smash photography, from choosing the right photographer and cake to planning the perfect session, right here in Indian Land, South Carolina, just minutes from Fort Mill.
Choosing the Right Photographer
When choosing a cake smash photographer, it is important to find someone who is experienced and has a good reputation. You should also look for someone whose style you like and who you feel comfortable with. Here at Two Bees, I have over 15 years experience and I specialize in babies from birth to one year.
Cake
The cake is the star of the show in a cake smash session, so it is important to come up with a design you love! I supply the cakes for all my sessions through a professional baker and we work on design together.
Location
All of my cake smash sessions are done in my studio in Indian Land, however, if you are looking to do one outdoors, just let me know! I’d be happy to set that up for you!
Props
Props can add a touch of fun and personality to your cake smash photos. Some popular props include balloons, streamers, and hats. You can also use props to help your child interact with the cake, such as a fork and knife or a spoon. For all of my cake smash sessions, I will supply everything needed, so you don’t have to do a thing!
Outfits
Your child’s outfit should be comfortable and something that they will not mind getting messy. You may want to choose a dress or a romper that is easy to wash. You can also choose to have your child wear a birthday hat or a sash. I’ve found a lot of inexpensive and adorable outfits on Amazon.
Expectations
It is important to set realistic expectations for your cake smash session. Your child may not want to eat the cake, and they may make a mess. But that is all part of the fun! The most important thing is to capture the moment and let them have fun.
