When I saw Connor’s picture on Facebook, I just HAD to photograph him! His hair is just as amazing in person and mom said we could put hats on and it would go right back up into the faux hawk!

I honestly did not even want to cover up that hair! He was an amazing model for us and I’m in love with the images we were able to capture!

The buckets and basket shots are always my favorites, but I really love the “floor” in this one. It is from My Lil Prop Shop and I loved it the moment I saw it. I love how he just stands out from that dark backdrop! I could have played with him all day. Cutest baby ever.

Olivia Grace. What a perfect little princess!

When Olivia’s parents first inquired they requested a beach shot with their new little one. I never dreamed it would turn out like this! We had the most beautiful night out here in Long Beach, with zero wind and a beautiful sunset.

This time of day can be tricky for newborns. Many new moms wonder why all of my sessions are in the morning and the reason is that typically babies sleep better. I remember with my own little guys that 5-7 pm was the “witching hour”. They were always fussy and cranky and it was tough!

So I was a little nervous about a newborn shoot even later than that, but it was AMAZING!! I’ve wanted to do it for the longest time and I’m so glad it worked out!

The next day I went to this family’s home for their full newborn session and Olivia did not disappoint. I think I heard one peep out of her and never saw her eyes open!

We went through 4 baskets, 2 blankets and family shots and I love the way it all came together!

Check out this adorable baby girl!! (and those lashes of hers!!)

So the truth is, I have a love hate relationship with my family beach sessions.

Crazy, I know.

The truth is, on a perfect night, I LOVE them.

The weather factor is another issue. Nothing feels worse than canceling a beach session because of rain. Or wind.

The thing about Long Beach, New York, is that it can be fine at 6, and at 6:30 the wind is whipping sand in your face. Not idea for clients coming from all over Long Island. So it’s super stressful for me. What if they arrive and the wind picks up? Are they going to make the drive to me again?

On a perfect night though. On a night like you see below, it’s gorgeous. And I love it. Families here come down to the beach on the weekends and make the most amazing memories. They want their families captured here, like I did with my own family. I get it. So I try and make it happen when I can…

In the end, I always love how they turn out and my clients do too!

Hope you enjoy this recent family session!

Ok, I’m just going to put this out there, that being from Long Island, I have NO idea how to read a bus schedule. Or a trolley schedule.

My boys have been asking about this open trolley and the schedule was Japanese to me. Needless to say we didn’t make it on last summer.

This weekend my boys and I were playing at the park when the open trolley went by. My little guys screamed so loud, you would have thought it was Hanukkah (or Christmas)…

I was determined.

We flew home on our bikes in the rain that had started, dropped them off at home, and headed back to the trolley stop. No luck.

Apparently when it drizzles, the open trolley heads back to the yard. And moms are left with sad little children.

The good part of the story is that at that trolley stop was a schedule for dummies. Even I could follow it, so we made a plan for the next morning and actually caught the trolley! If you are near Long Beach New York, I highly recommend you taking a ride!

It’s free with your beach pass and hits both ends of town!
